William Bentley Fowle autobiography, ca. 1827.

An unpublished autobiography of reformer William Bentley Fowle written ca. 1827. Highlights include his education, bookselling apprenticeship to Caleb Bingham, book selling and publishing experiences, and work in Boston schools up until 1827. The autobiography contains descriptions of his various encounters and relationships with individuals such as: Prince Saunders, Horace Holley, Oliver D. Cooke, Samuel Pettis, John Vinal, and David Everett.
